Is there One God, or many Gods?

My God, your God, whose God

In spite of having superior capabilities and superior faculties, in spite of having dominance over other living beings, and at times even over other human beings, humans expect a bail-out in extreme hardships through an other than human support. There is a group of people who await a ‘chance’ or ‘probability’ to get them out of the difficulties. These are the people who believe that everything happens without any plan or a purpose, but as a ‘chance’; the universe came into existence on its own as a ‘chance’, the perfect systems and the harmonies of the universe are purposeless, and attribute it all to a ‘chance’. These people are atheists who deny existence of a Superior Authority.

However, most of the human beings believe in a Superior Authority, The God, Who helps them out in the needs. They attribute the design and creation of everything, the properties and faculties of all creation, the harmonies that exist everywhere, the monitoring and control over everything, to The Almighty God. These are theists.

All human beings have always been bound by customs, traditions and rituals right from the time they lived in caves to their high-rise towers, from the time of communicating through paintings on cave walls to the age of 5G, from the time of being food gatherers and hunters to manufacturers. They divided themselves based on their customs, traditions and rituals and gradually religions came into existence. Each religion has a set of culture, customs, traditions and rituals, with authorities to establish them. At the peak of all these religious groups is their God.

Invariably, The God of every religion is supposed to be The One who created everything, sustains and monitors everything, and eventually destroys everything. We have a Hindu God, a Muslim God, a Jew God, a Christian God, a Parsi God, a Sikh God, and only God knows how many more Gods. And each God is supposed to be better than the other Gods. This concept of ‘my God is true, your God is false’ exists since inception. However, with internet and social media dominating our lives and being the best tools to propagandize any evil, it has come handy at maligning and abusing ‘your God’. There are ‘Media/IT Cells’ dedicated to maligning ‘your God’ at mass level and have been highly effective at brain-washing the ignorant, that unfortunately comprise the majority.

I fail to understand if there are so many Gods, why they all chose to put their religion and their followers in the same universe and on the same earth out of billions and billions of planets that exist in the universe. If we go by the multiverse theory, they could have chosen other universes too. And, if there are no other universes, then which of these Gods created the universe? Or, did one God create the universe and leased it to others too?

Even if we agree that one God created the universe and leased His universe to other Gods, at least they could have created their followers in different forms and with a different set of faculties. It would have been easier to identify the followers and added a brand identity too. We humans are better than the Gods that people can identify easily whether the approaching car is a product of Suzuki or Volkswagen. But they all chose to create humans in the same form with same blood, same bones, same flesh, same organs, same anatomy, same physiology, each being born the same way, each growing up the same way, each consuming same food, each breathing same air, each having same faculties, each getting sick the same way, each healing the same way, each ageing the same way, each dying the same way. Aren’t we humans better than the Gods that we manufacture different products, each one of us?

Or, is it that one of the Gods originated the concept and the other Gods copied it? If that is the case, then why there is no conflict seen between these Gods? They did not use the provisions of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) too; or, they were not aware of them? Or is it that the God who originated it was dominated by the other Gods? Then why has that God not revolted against the dominance of others? Or is that God too weak to fight for his right? It is obviously a matter of shame for the followers of copy-cat God, and for the followers of weak God as well.

I have never seen in my life, nor ever read in any books, authentic or inauthentic, of any incidence of a conflict between these Gods. There have never been any fights of supremacy, never any litigation on breach of understanding, never any qualms or quarrels over ‘your followers’ and ‘my followers’. I am sure no God would have ever killed followers of other Gods; otherwise, there would certainly have been some sort of animosity among the Gods.

The followers of all Gods are consuming same resources like food, water and air. There could have been fights between the Gods over excessive use as some Gods have more followers than others. Or, may be the conflict arising out of food habits as some Gods command their followers to be vegetarians while others command their followers to be meat-eaters. I have also not ever seen Gods descending down to earth and making efforts to expand their follower-base, nor ever seen a God complaining of any follower that has changed camps.

This all indicates that there is a complete harmony among all Gods and there has never ever been any misunderstanding among them. Or, else, there is only One God.

If there is such a beautiful harmony among all the Gods, then why do we fight with each other on their behalf? Why we brew so much of hatred and animosity with each other? And, if indeed there is only One God whom we all worship in different forms and call Him by different names, then why this animosity and hatred?
